da marjack bet: Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a £4m move for West Bromwich Albion defender Nathan Ferguson in the summer, per Football Insider.
What’s the word?
da brdice: Spurs, per the report, watched the right-back for months but pulled out of the race in the early stages of the January transfer window.
Ferguson was the subject of a bid from Crystal Palace last month but a knee injury led to a collapse in negotiations, per the aforementioned piece.
Spurs are said to be in the market for two right-backs in the summer as they are also targeting Norwich City ace Max Aarons.
A deal for Ferguson, whose contract expires in the summer, would cost a compensation fee of £4m for Spurs were they able to convince him to join.
Classic Levy opportunism
Chairman Daniel Levy is about to put on a clinic.
The knee injury that scuppered Ferguson’s move to Palace is, of course, purely good fortune for Spurs.
But at this point, with his contract expiring, Spurs have a perfect chance to snaffle Ferguson away from the Hawthorns.
Money talks: How much did Levy pay for each of these Spurs stars?
Per WhoScored, the 19-year-old has made 21 appearances in the Championship this season, averaging 2.4 tackles per game, 0.9 interceptions, and 1.7 clearances, along with 1.5 dribbles.
He is clearly a prospect and he will be expected to improve in north London.
Should they manage to bring him in, Levy will have struck a remarkably cheap deal for a player who, per Football Insider, would have cost Palace up to £11m.
Meanwhile, Spurs fans are thrilled about the prospect of one man’s injury return!
