da brwin: Having seen Brandon Williams make his emergence into the Manchester United first-team this season, the pressure has well and truly turned up a notch on Luke Shaw.
da leao: The England international’s career at Old Trafford has been blighted by injuries, but at 24, will no doubt be harbouring hopes of reigniting his fortunes.
However, that task has been made far more difficult by Williams, who has already made 19 appearances across all competitions this campaign, even playing against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Shaw desperately needed a first-class performance to deliver a major reminder of what he can bring to the table, but unfortunately for him, he wasn’t able to really lay down a marker in his side’s 6-0 victory over Tranmere. As per Sofascore, despite having the most touches of any United player with 107, he failed to provide any accurate crosses, and lost possession 13 times.
And after seeing his performance, United fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the left-back.
A couple of fans were particularly critical of Shaw’s conditioning, with one supporter in particular comparing him to an “overweight Sunday League player”.
Another couple of supporters of the Manchester side berated the fact that Shaw’s disappointing performance came against a League One side.
Whilst shining against a League One side down in 21st shouldn’t get Ole Gunnar Solskjaer too carried away, the Norwegian will surely have been impressed by his left-back. The fact he had the most amount of touches and key passes in his team showed just how influential he was on Sunday afternoon.
The big fat United quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Man Utd?
Williams may be enjoying a meteoric rise this year, but Shaw’s performance has just reminded him that the left-back position is still very much up for grabs.
Meanwhile, Man Utd making a loan swoop for this Premier League flop would be a smart move.
