da bet sport: French football journalist Julien Laurens expects Christian Pulisic to have a major role under Frank Lampard as he prepares to make his Chelsea debut after joining the club this summer.
da imperador bet: The deal to sign Pulisic was announced in January, as the American spent the latter half of the campaign on loan at Borussia Dortmund, who sold the winger to the Blues for a reported £58m.
Chelsea’s transfer ban means Pulisic is one of various ‘new’ arrivals after the club made their loan move for Mateo Kovacic permanent this summer and welcomed several players back from loan spells.
And in response to a query over Pulisic’s potential game time, Laurens spoke highly of the 20-year-old, tipping the youngster to play plenty in his first season as a Stamford Bridge player.
Speaking on ESPN FC, he said: “I think he’s the kind of player Lampard will like having in his team, and we saw that against Salzburg the other day where he fitted exactly [with] the gameplan that Lampard had – and with how quick he is on the ball, I think that will be perfect for what Lampard wants to do at Chelsea.
“I can see him playing a lot because he is so intelligent. I can see him adapting very quickly to what the Premier League is and what Lampard wants him to do and I think we should be optimistic and positive about him arriving at the club.”
Pulisic has impressed during pre-season with a couple of goals in the Blues’ recent 5-3 win over Salzburg, though he may have stiff competition in his right-wing position at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Pedro and Willian also in contention for a first-team spot.
According to WhoScored, Pulisic potentially offers the finishing qualities that Willian doesn’t, though he may only become a budding understudy to 32-year-old Pedro for the time being.
Having made 52 appearances for Chelsea last year, the Spaniard could go into next season as Lampard’s first-choice right-winger.
So as Pulisic gets his Premier League career underway next season, he may end up surrendering game time to the Spaniard – not that Laurens has any long-term concerns about the prospective Blues career of the US international.
