da blaze casino: Everton are interested in signing Chelsea outcast Loic Remy, according to Sky Sports.
What’s the story?
da doce: British media outlets have linked the Merseyside outfit to numerous attacking players over the past few weeks.
Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have been mentioned, while Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke has also been among the transfer gossip pages.
Everton have made a big statement by storming out the blocks and spending close to £100m on new signings.
Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Henry Onyekuru, Sandro Ramirez, Michael Keane and Wayne Rooney have all come through the welcome gates so far.
According to Sky Sports, Everton have now turned their attention to Remy, who would prefer to stay at Chelsea but is prepared to leave as he is likely to struggle with getting enough game time this season.
Is Remy good enough?
Before moving to Chelsea, the Frenchman had a decent spell on loan from Queens Park Rangers at Newcastle United, where he scored 14 goals and produced three assists in 26 Premier League appearances.
Following his switch to Stamford Bridge in 2014, Remy struggled to cement his spot in the first XI, starting just nine top-flight matches across three years.
Injury played a part, and he was also sent on loan to Crystal Palace last season where he managed to just one league start and four appearances off the bench.
If Everton manager Ronald Koeman is looking for a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku, then Remy is not the answer, but the forward could be a reliable squad player.
Due to injury and lack of form, it could take the 30-year-old time to find his feet again, but if Everton want to be vying for top-four positions, they need to hit the ground running.
Given that money does not seem to be an issue for majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, Everton should look for a more established figure if they want someone to slot into the first XI instantly.
