da bet vitoria: Arsenal have decided to pull out of the race to sign Monaco star Kylian Mbappe, reports the Daily Mail.
What’s the story?
da premier bet: The Gunners have been named among many elite clubs said to be interested in signing the 18-year-old.
The young Frenchman caught the attention of the football world by scoring 26 goals in all competitions last season.
Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Liverpool have been linked to the teenage forward, while Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger made it clear during the 2016-17 campaign that he was an admirer of Mbappe.
Now, though, the Daily Mail claims that the North London outfit have accepted that they have very little chance of signing the forward and are switching their attention to other targets.
Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette and Monaco’s Thomas Lemar are now at the top of Arsenal’s wishlist.
Should they persist?
Judging by the media reports, it is likely that Monaco are going to want a world-record figure for Mbappe.
The Mirror recently claimed that the bidding war could reach up to £100m, and while Arsenal are not exactly a poor club, they tend to be reluctant to splash that amount of cash on players.
If they have got early wind that a deal for the Frenchman is unlikely to happen, then it makes sense to focus on other targets.
It is understandable why the Gunners would be attracted to Mbappe given the comparisons between himself and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Wenger would relish the opportunity to help develop the young talent, but persisting with Mbappe could result in the club missing out on the likes of Lacazette and Lemar.
For right now, the Gunners are right to walk away, but they need to bring in some attacking talent due to the ongoing uncertainty around Alexis Sanchez.
