da marjack bet: Tottenham have started their first ever Champions League campaign in some style. Today we take a look at 5 reasons that have contributed to their early success in the competition.
da 888casino: Firstly, Gareth Bale has shown us what he knew all along. The young Welsh midfield has lit up not only the Premier League but the Champions League too. So much so comparison has been drawn between himself and the talented Lionel Messi. Some would argue that Bale was very much an unknown quantity before the start of this season and I’m sure know one knew the extent to which he would torment world class defenders, such as he did against Maicon. The bottom line is that Bale has added a greater creative dimension to an already strong team which as in turn elevated the club to the next level, Champions league notoriety.
As the season continues and Tottenham pick up results such as their 3-1 defeat of Inter Milan, the team is seemingly growing in confidence and self belief. As far as I’m concerned this can only prove beneficial as the club find itself in the last 16 of the Champions League and realistically stand a chance of mounting a serious title challenge.
Arguably Tottenham’s greatest weapon is the man at the helm. Harry Redknapp believes that football management is about a lot more than just an intricate weave of science, economics and psychology. He is certain in his belief that letting players express themselves is just as effective as drumming information into the small minds of his players. This information often goes out the window in the first two minutes anyway.
Arguably Tottenham made the biggest coup of the summer in the form of £8million Rafael van der Vaart. The Dutch attacking midfielder has most definitely added that killer touch that Tottenham have debatably been missing in previous seasons. Van der Vaart has been inspirational for Spurs since joining from Real Madrid; He has scored eight goals in 14 appearances, although he still appears to be adjusting to the pace of football in England. Some may say van der Vaart has not featured too much in the Champions League; however his contribution to the squad I believe has been valuable and advantageous to the squad as a whole.
My final and maybe my most telling reason for Tottenham’s early success in the Champions League is that their style of play simply suits. Redknapp is even more at home in Europe, where individual creativity is less often snuffed out by mere rugged endeavour. In the past week Redknapp has pumped up the idea of a serious title challenge. In Europe, success has driven the club to think more audaciously and this is all proving profitable as the team takes great strides to winning those oh so elusive trophies.
