da bet sport： Having fallen out of favour at Tottenham this summer, the 25-year-old has been attracting plenty of attention in the transfer market, with multiple clubs willing to take the full-back off Spurs’ hands.
The Spain international was left out of the pre-season touring squad by Antonio Conte, a snub which more or less signalled that the ex-Real Madrid defender’s immediate future lies away from north London.
Following speculation linking him with Fulham, Lazio and Barcelona, Reguilon appears set for a return to the Spanish capital, but this time to his former employers’ rivals…
The latest: Atletico calling
As per the Evening Standard, Atletico are believed to be on the verge of landing the six-cap ace.
It’s claimed that Reguilon had been ‘deemed surplus to requirements’ in N17, training away from the first-team squad of late, and will therefore head back to Spain in order to obtain regular first-team football once again.
The report states that there will be ‘no buy option’ in the deal as Atletico replace Nottingham Forest-bound Renan Lodi in their squad with the man who Alasdair Gold dubbed ‘phenomenal’ upon first coming to Spurs two years ago.

The verdict: Needs a fresh start
Ultimately, with Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic being favoured by Conte instead, it seems unlikely that Reguilon would get the sufficient game-time required for an experienced operator hoping to make it into Spain’s World Cup squad later this year.
Since joining Spurs, the £22.5m-valued Spaniard has scored twice and provided nine assists in 67 outings for the north Londoners, appearing regularly if not weekly in their starting XI and posting respectable WhoScored ratings of 6.72 in his first season in N17 and 6.95 last term.
Still under contract until 2025 (Transfermarkt), there remains every possibility that a successful loan spell at a club likeAtletico, where Champions League football is also on offer, could see Reguilon return to Tottenham and thrive further down the line.
For now, he needs a fresh start elsewhere, as his immediate Spurs future looks rather bleak.
